1-3 new PhD students typically join the group each fall, depending on grant funding. PhD students are usually admitted first to the general MatSE program by the admissions committee and then find groups during the summer or fall in the year they start the program.

MatSE MS students and undergraduate students with junior standing who are interested in experimental research opportunities for credit can generally contact Prof. Perry by email. Availability of positions varies.

We usually host 1 undergraduate summer researcher through the I-MRSEC REU program, for students outside of UIUC, and occasionally 1 UIUC MatSE undergraduate summer researcher through the Russel Bolton Research Development award.
